1 All the diets were supplemented with 4 levels of either CaCl2 (0.11, 0.22, 0.33 or 0.44%) or NH4Cl (0.105, 0.21, 0.315 or 0.42%) to make final Cl concentrations of 0.31, 0.45, 0.59 or 0.73%, respectively. The basal diet has 0.17% Cl in it. The concentration of calcium in dietary treatments has been adjusted by excluding monocalcium phosphate.
